Maleficent

Posted by Lucy at 11:06 0 comments
Maleficent is by far the best movie that I've seen in a long, long time! The visual effects are mind-boggling; they make everything seem so real, so alive! It kept me gripped throughout, so much so that I didn't even finish my popcorn! The plot's unique, a superb, imaginative twist on the original story, Sleeping Beauty. I found the film even better than Frozen, which is definitely saying something as that's one of my all-time favourites! Also, I think Angelina Jolie is fab in it. She really suits the part. However, I do think it should be rated 12, rather than PG as it's quite violent in places. I give Maleficent 10/10! It's spectacular, a must-see!

Models Own HyperGel

Sundress
Glossy, inexpensive and chip-resistant, Models Own HyperGel is a top-quality product sold in many countries worldwide! There are ten vibrant colours to choose from in the HyperGel range. The USP (Unique Selling Point) of this range is the high-shine finish, similar to the UV light set polish, such as Shellac, available at the beauticians. Not only does it last longer than conventional polish, it dries really quickly. It is best to use a clear base coat before applying any of the darker polishes as they can temporarily stain your nails.

How to be Safe in the Sun

Posted by Lucy at 09:33 0 comments
I spent today at the beach  with my mum and my grandparents, who we're visiting at the moment, and we had a great time, just watching the world go by! However, on days like this, you should be protected from the sun! Here are my top tips on staying safe in the sun:

1. Always, always, always wear sun cream! They say that you should use plenty of sun cream on the following areas: your face, ears and neck, your chest and tummy, you upper and lower back, your legs (back and front), your arms and your feet So, basically anywhere that's exposed to the sun! UVA and UVB rays are still around when it's cloudy or raining, so try to get into a habit of putting on sun cream every day, even in Winter!

2. Stay in the shade between 11am and 3pm! This is when the sun's at it's hottest, so it's when you are at highest risk of burning. If staying in the shade is too hard and you really fancy a dip in the sea, pull on a t-shirt, so that your shoulders are protected at least!

3. Stay hydrated! Drinking plenty of water is really important as your body loses lots of fluid when the weather's hot due to perspiring (in other words, sweating)!

4. Wear a hat and sunglasses! This is an important one! Sunglasses protect your eyes by filtering out UV rays; hats protect your head from the sun and it's horrible, nasty rays that burn and age your skin!

By following these tips and advice, you can enjoy the sun whilst being safe!

LUSH Creamy Candy Bubble Bar

Posted by Lucy at 03:55 0 comments
If you love intensely sweet scents, this bubble bar will well and truly hit the mark! Not only does it look great,  it smells extraordinary too (vanilla + sweeties = heavenly)! The benefits of this product are that (a) it contains coacoa butter and almond oil, which moisturises your skin and (b) it leaves you smelling gorge all day long!
In addition, LUSH  is eco-friendly as lots of their products including the Creamy Candy Bubble Bar come naked (with no packaging at all)! When packaging is unavoidable, they prefer to use recycled materials. The company like their packaging to be reused, recycled or composted when it's no longer needed. However, recyclable paper bags are on offer in the shop, so that you can pop your naked product in one if it's required.
I really love this product and can't wait to use the other half! (Oh yes, I forgot to add that it does more than once!)

P.S. I would like to say a big thank you to the staff in Lush Swindon; they were really helpful and enthusiatic - especially Gaye!

Maybelline Baby Lips Peach Kiss

Posted by Lucy at 07:49 0 comments
Today, I popped into Town to buy a few bits and bobs to review on my blog. I was browsing in Boots when I came across Baby Lips. Peach Kiss is just fabulous! Not only does it hydrate your lips for up to eight hours, it also adds a touch of colour and shine! The balm's casing is cute too, a nice addition. Plus, it actually smells of peaches! It also has an SPF20 which is very handy, considering the weather in the South of England at the moment! It slicks on nice and easily as well. Lastly, it leaves your lips feeling as smooth as a baby's bottom, hence the name. I'd definitely buy this product again and highly recommend it!

How to Be Confident

Posted by Lucy at 10:32 0 comments
Let's face it. Some people ooze self-confidence and others don't. But, who cares? Read my top tips on building your confidence, so that you can become a Confi Queen!

1. Know your talents. Everybody is great at something, whether it's baking, cycling or maths, so create a mental list of what you excel at. If your struggling to think of two or three things, perhaps identify what you'd like to be good at and find out how you could reach that goal.

2. Focus on your good qualities. Most of us focus on our bad qualities, rather than our good ones. We should look at the positives and enhance them to the best they can possibly be. Make note of what you like about yourself and go through it when your feeling down.

3. Always look on the bright side of life! It's very important to be positive as negitivity gets you nowhere. Just by smiling can lift your mood or by doing some light exercise. When you have energy, you think more optimistically.

4. Posture. Just by straightening your back and holding you head a little higher than usual, you can instantly feel a lot more confident. I'm not entirely sure why exactly, but, believe me, it works a treat!

5. Spend time with the people you love. Invite your friend(s) around for a film-fest/spa evening or visit a family member you haven't seen for a while. They're bound to make you smile! Also, avoid confidence-zappers at all costs.

6. Accept compliments. When someone compliments you, don't be embarrassed! Instead, thank them graciously and compliment them in return. If you're stuck for what to say, here's a couple of ideas:
  • I love your top; it really suits you!
  • You're exceptionally good at maths!
  • That's a pretty name!
  • You're digging that new hairstyle!
7. Be grateful of what you have. Rather than always wanting more, step back and take a good, thorough look at what you have. Be thankful and and just feel lucky to be you!

8. Take care of your appearence. Looking good is a sure-fire way of feeling more confident! You don't have to look like Kiera Knightley to start building confidence though. Just make sure that you shower daily, brush your teeth, use deodorant and wear clothes that make you feel at ease.

9. Stop comparing yourself to others. One thing that puts us down is comparing ourselves to other people. We should be proud of who we are! When you feel a twang of jealousy for somebody else, tell yourself to stop immediately. Life's too short to waste feeling glum!

10. Live by the motto Be who you wanna be, not what others want to see! In other words, always be yourself! Nobody could ask for anything better!

Hope these ten tips have helped you! Now, get out there a be the confident little mademe I know you are!

L'oreal Studio Line Matt and Messy Salt Spray

Posted by Lucy at 09:04 0 comments

Recently, my friend has been talking about salt spray and how amazing it is, so I decided to buy some to see what the hype was all about. I used it for the first time this morning and it really does work. I was very surprised that by hometime, my beach-babe waves were still in as my hair is naturally super-straight so curls and waves never usually stay in for very long. Also, L'oreal Studio Line Matt and Messy Salt Spray (the one I have) leaves your hair smelling nice and feeling soft unlike lots of other products. I really like the look it creates and am planning on using it very often. It works on both damp or dry hair. I'd highly reccomend this as it's reasonably priced and works effectively.
TOP TIP: To create even more of a just-back-from-the-beach vibe, perhaps pull you hair back into a messy pony tail - this screams uber-funky chick!
